Please pardon me if this was discussed on the last call (which I could
not attend): I wonder if there is really is more value in actually
providing patterns rather than a methodology. I have a hunch that in
defining a methodology, we might need to go so far as defining the
actual patterns - else it would be incomplete.

For example, a methodology could start out (roughly) as:

(1) Define all entities in your architecture
(2) Identify all data exchange points
(3) Identify the type of data (in general) that needs to be exchanged
(4) If the type of data is transactional (i.e. purchase order/invoice),
then the pattern is "Transactional"

IOW, I could not stop short of (4) without completing the methodology
(or at least the rough example here), which required me to identify a
pattern.
