Martin, This is in-line with what I was suggesting. Maybe the answer is to to treat an affirmative message reciept as a superset - and implied ackrep once you get it - that implies go to BPSS "next step" regardless. So if you are able to proceed to the next step in the process - do it right away - and if the partner gets that ahead of confirmation messages - then will simply move on and ignore requirements for intermediary ping-pong acks. You can simply then have a flag at the top of the BPSS for 'treat-msg-as-inclusive-ack' "True / False". So if someone really does want stepwise ACK processing they can still have it too.
