Original post 23 Jan 2004: http://www.oasis-open.org/archives/ebxml-bp/200401/msg00126.html 2 February 2004 Conference call: Martin: Should we have a call before F2F? No objection. F2F Logistics Martin: 8:30-9:30 a.m. PST, 4 February 2004 Access to Sun facilities. St. Amand: Will arrive at 12 noon. Martin: Will have Sun personnel available to assist late entrants. Martin contact information: 877.330.9868 rolls to cell phone. Work Item 7 Versioning Martin: Discuss 2 February 2004. No objections. Nagahashi: Need concrete use cases to prepare proposal. Yunker: When we started, we had a strong expectation that BPSS would be used to tie together the service specifications. This impacts versioning and access through a registry, as well as semantic identification that is more address oriented. Would like the group to decide if there is a strong-bias to use standards-approach or individual groups will specify their preference: General framework or specific design. Webber: Our critical business edge is that we provide support for industry associations. BPEL is not going there; that doesn't mean that we should not. Yunker: Agreed. Need to pay attention to semantics. Webber: What about IV&I? That project is trying to develop BPSS standardized flows. JBClark: If you read old ebXML documents, you see orientation Yunker specifies. Need to adjust make adjustments on expectations if that is not true. However, the alternative is to modularize to deliver that capability for a large community such as RosettaNet and plug in their own capabilities. Webber: I see one is a by-product of the other. The late binding and the overall focus on producing plug-n-play BPSS definitions for industry scenarios allow you to provide the other capabilities you need. JBClark: My comment is focused on the requirements level. Yunker: To Webber's comment, this focus could create a challenge for a large enterprise. A good understanding across a large industry is required. However, if there is creative application in a large industry, the semantics make it more difficult using XML (than EDI). Webber: People could take BPSS toolset and apply to domains that may have not been considered. Martin: Will post IV&I working documents for team reference. ACTION: MARTIN: POST IV&I DOCUMENT.
