Subject: [ebBP] 10/26/2004: ebBP-BPMN Collaboration
Updated BPMN diagram from JJ Dubray as of 21 October 2004 (attached). BPMN - ebBP collaboration 21 Oct 2004 Summary: * The dual messages that connect to the BTA are important to represent the shared collaboration. Need to retain the BT (BTA with role) in BPMN to show the business messages, signals and exceptions. There are semantics associated with these patterns and activities in ebBP. This is important to represent in BPMN. * More detail could be represented later using subprocesses or exceptions. Further detail can be added later or be visualized in a tool (such as more detail in the BTA such as for Catalog Request). Explicitly state that compensation should not be used when modeling ebBP in BPMN. * Discussed question if one process executing with different roles or different processes that have different roles. * Miers has seen one major end user, interaction with two parties in a collaboration (state alignment but no message being sent). Open items * How to handle how roles changes with the relationships and behavior. * Need to understand more about the compositional aspects related to BTA, CA, and BC/MPC. Earlier this summer, BPMN considered the creation of a new activity (joint activity) that had unique characteristics. Would these conditions support the addition of such a new activity?
