Subject: Wording in the FAQ

On the call today we discused specific contents in the FAQ, which is currently in progress.

One of the questions presented and answered in the FAQ is

When is the ebBP technical specification used?

The ebBP technical specification is designed to specify the run time aspects of a Business Collaboration. The ebBP technical specification must be used wherever ebXML conformant software components are being specified to execute Business Collaborations. The ebBP technical specification can be used to specify any shared collaboration, for example, the specification may be used when Web Services software components are being specified to execute Business Collaborations.

The question is the use of MUST. The point being that ebXML is now no longer just about ebXML specifications, other emerging technologies that provide the functionality/capability are being used.

For further context look at section 2.3 (under Design Objectives) where the specification states:

The ebBP technical specification MUST be used wherever ebXML conformant software components are being specified to execute Business Collaborations. This specification MAY be used when ebXML and Web Services conformant software components are being specified to execute Business Collaborations.

What wording should be in the FAQ, and for that matter in the specification?

Your thoughts please.

Sally
