Subject: RE: [ebxml-cppa] comments on today's conference call minutes

Right, we do not yet have a subteam for SAML & XACML support formed. If we are considering it as a deliverable
in the same time frame as BTP support, maybe we should start a subteam. Is there anyone willing
to head up that effort?

As far as the tensions between CPPA and Messaging go, maybe they would be reduced if they did not
see CPPA as an outside spec potentially interfering with their spec's "independence"? But I do see
that certain interests--like defining how a non-ebXML messaging protocols could be used within CPPA--
might not be of concern.

A unified ebXML TC, with subteams for particular maintenance or new projects, might be appropriate
as we approach a maintenance phase. There seems to be no groundswell of support for this idea
at the moment, however.

Merging of the CPPA team and messaging teams has to be considered very carefully. Since the CPA has a history of controversy within the MSG team, success of a merger depends on the degree of support for the CPA from the MSG members on the merged team.

We also need to think very carefully about what are the known outstanding CPPA matters and whether a maintenance release early in 2003 is sufficient. Two that come immediately to mind, aside from BTP support, are support for SAML and XACML. Relationship to Web services is, of course another matter though one that is hard to pin down at this time.

Regards,
Marty
