Subject: [ebxml-cppa] Teleconference Minutes: September 20, 2002

Draft Minutes of OASIS ebXML CPP/A Technical Committee Conference
Call, Sept 20, 2002.

Attendees:
  Jamie Clark
  Dale Moberg
  Ed Mooney (Sun Microsystems, guest)
  Himagiri Mukkamala
  Marty Sachs
  Pete Wenzel

Announcements
-------------
Note the revised OASIS TC process, for future reference. CPP/A 2.0
still falls under the old rules, since it is already nearing the end
of the process. Any resubmission or new work would be according to
the new schedule, in which delays are reduced.

During UN/CEFACT meeting last week, a reorganization occurred. New
groups are named Applied Technology Group (ATG) and Theory &
Methodology Group (TMG). There are rumors of harmonization between
UBL & ebXML Core Components, but no one could confirm. The eBTWG &
TMWG mailing lists will be closed, as these groups now belong to TMG.
See <http://lists.ebtwg.org/archives/ebtwg/200209/msg00008.html> for
participation instructions.

Subteam Reports
---------------
Negotiation: A new BPSS instance document has been posted to the
subteam documents page. No additional news.

Transaction: No update. Discussion about the papers Tony Fletcher
has submitted will be deferred until he is available.

Editorial Changes
-----------------
Dale proposes to update the specification document and schema version
to "2.0c" and make the changes detailed in the discussion thread
beginning with:
  http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/ebxml-cppa/200209/msg00015.html

One update (Certificate cardinality) requires a schema change. Hima
notes that the SecurityDetails element also needs minOccurs=0, for the
case in which no security is required.

The TC is asked to sanity-check the updates next week after the new
documents are posted.

Other
-----
Dale and Hima will seek "derivative works" permission from IBM for JSR
157, so that users of the well-defined API or reference implementation
will not need to acquire licenses individually. The appropriate
contact is Chuck Adams, rather than Bob Sutor. Jamie will check with
JCP administration; perhaps they have experienced this with other JSRs
and can offer guidance.
