Subject: ebXML IIC TC -- call for nominations

All,

In order to smoothly execute the charter of the OASIS
ebXML Implementation, Interoperability and Conformance
TC, we need to have a structure in place, and most
importantly, find a number of volunteers that are
responsible for leading those areas. At the San Jose
face-to-face, we identified the following structures,
some of which are detailed in the attached document
(thanks to Steven Yung of Sun for writing these down).
Please read to the end of this message, as the formal
call for nominations/volunteers can be found there.

Deadline for nominations is Friday, September 7, 2001.

1. Group Structure: consists of chair (leads meetings
and coordinates TC activities), co-chair (backs up
chair when needed), editor (custodian of TC documents:
maintains docs, issues logs and change logs) and
secretary (meeting minutes, maintains attendance log);

2. Working Groups: a. Conformance Plan: consists of
a.1. Conformance clause, a.2. Conformance and
interoperability tests, and a.3. Third-party labs and
conformance guidelines; b. Implementation guidelines;
and c. Reference Implementation;

3. Liaisons: current list includes: OASIS Conformance
TC, Message Service, Registry/Repository, CPP/CPA,
UN/CEFACT Business Process, UN/CEFACT Core Components,
Security Standards, and Marketing. I've also received
mail from the XSLT Conformance group of OASIS, and we
may want to exchange experiences with them as well,
possibly requiring a liaison.

FORMAL CALL FOR NOMINATIONS: below are the positions
that need to be filled (see descriptions above). To
nominate yourself (or possibly someone else), please
send an e-mail to the list by Friday, September 7,
2001, (ebxml-iic@lists.oasis-open.org) stating whom
you are nominating and for which position, and, if you
desire, why you think your nominee is the best
qualified. In the conference call on September 10,
I'll formally announce the candidates, and then we'll
have a one-week voting period. People will need to get
their votes in by Friday, September 14 (exact
mechanics of the voting procedure can be decided in
that call as well; please also note the OASIS rules
re. eligibility to vote -- unless present at first
meeting, there is a waiting period of three meetings
or 60 days, whichever comes first).

Positions to be filled (also listing those who stated
at the face-to-face that they were volunteering for
that position -- their names are in parentheses;
apologies if I've missed anyone):

1.CO-CHAIR (as I mentioned in my earlier note, I'll
stay on as chair) (current candidate for co-chair:
Jeff Eck of GE (GXS))
2. EDITOR
3. SECRETARY

4. LEAD OF CONFORMANCE PLAN WORKING GROUP (Jacques
Durand of Savvion has expressed interest in leading
the Conformance Clause subgroup of this WG)
5. LEAD OF CONFORMANCE AND INTEROPERABILITY TESTS
WORKING GROUP
6. LEAD OF THIRD-PARTY LABS AND CONFORMANCE GUIDELINES
WORKING GROUP

7. CONFORMANCE TC LIAISON

Thanks.

-Philippe
