I agree with your assessment and follow-up from Jacques' comments Michael. On the 'optional', the boundaries you proposed would work as long as you do not confuse the participants between pre-conditions (linked to an assertion) and non-required condition (optional step in the context of function). Perhaps we should call it 'FatalCondition' or something derivative as a condition occurred. It is conditional (i.e. it doesn't fail the test but didn't complete the step). Thoughts?
