Subject: ECOM
Interesting information on ebXML adoption in
Japan.
Two organizations ready to use ebMS3 when it is ready,
both using CPA and one also BPSS.

Eijk,
It is OK for you to forward my note to the
ebXML CPPA TC.
1. ECOM's activities
ECOM has three WGs regarding EDI,
B2B-EC, and ebXML.
The key man of ECOM is Mr. Hisanao
Sugamata.
The main activities are
followings.
(1) Information sharing technologies
promotion WG
- Research modeling technologies. e.g.
UMM.
- Research information model, and propose
to UN/CEFACT. e.g. Core Components.
(2) ebXML based next generation EDI system
WG
- Propose Pull MSH (Message Service
Handler) to ebXML MS TC.
- Review ebMS (ebXML MS specification) V3.0.
- Research practical Client and Server
systems in Japanese marketplace.
(3) Practical B2B-EC framework research
WG
- Develop B2B-EC framework.
- Research B2B-EC solutions.
2. Answers to your questions
(1) ECOM's activities regarding
ebXML
The current situations are
followings.
- ECOM follows ebMS in OASIS
activities.
- But ECOM does not follow CPPA, BPSS in
OASIS activities.
- ECOM follows UN/CEFACT
activities.
(2) Systems or products using CPA in
Japan
- The B2B-EC system named "Common XML/EDI
system" that was developed by The Common XML/EDI practice promotion council
(COXEC) is using CPA.
- The B2B-EC standard named "ECALGA" that was developed
by Japan Electronics and Information Technologies Association (JEITA). ECALGA is
using ebMS and ebBPSS. In the procedure of Proof experiment of ECALGA, CPA might
be used. I have no definite information about this.
(3) ebMS 3.0 deployment in
Japan
- The Common XML/EDI system and ECALGA has
already adopted Pull MSH that is added at ebMS 3.0. Therefore, when the ebMS 3.0
will be officially approved as an OASIS standard, these systems will adopt the
new ebMS 3.0.
Best Regards,
Yukinori Saito
