The OASIS ebXML Message Service is one of the most widely used parts of the ebXML framework. Discover what is new and different for the OASIS ebXML Messaging Services TC v3.0 Standard from the team working on its development and introduction. The new 3.0 version leverages a number of key Web Services technologies, such as Web Service Security and Web Services Reliable Messaging, and provides innovative new features to support small and medium size organizations.

Vendor support for ebMS 2.0 has seen recent increase, with Oracle and IBM now supporting it in their commercial products and three new open source implementations released in the last year alone. These developments are triggered by increased adoption of ebXML Messaging in end user communities, including some very large and strategic initiatives. ebMS 3.0 is the next logical step, when 2.0 upgraders and new users alike are ready to embrace a comprehensive Web Services Standards-based Messaging platform. Interest in ebMS 3.0 is already quite strong in Japan and in healthcare.
