Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] (EBXMLMSG-87) AS4 3.1, definition of XML Payload

    [ https://issues.oasis-open.org/browse/EBXMLMSG-87?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=61717#comment-61717 ]

Sander Fieten commented on EBXMLMSG-87:
---------------------------------------

I wonder whether the MSH should determine the type of payload, shouldn't it be the task of the Producer to inform the MSH what it is asking the MSH to sent? So the Producer should add the CharacterSet property when submitting the user message to the MSH.

> It is stated:
> For XML payloads, an eb:PartInfo/eb:PartProperties/eb:Property/@name="CharacterSet" value is RECOMMENDED to identify the character set of the payload before compression was applied. The values of this property MUST conform to the values defined in section
> 4.3.3 of [XML10].
> This does not explain how an MSH determines that a payload is an XML payload, and therefore it is not clear when the MSH needs to check the value of the property.
