Subject: RE: [egov-comment] Records Management project
I
think the Records Management paper is on our 'wish list' and if I recall correctly
was to focus on harmonisation of ontologies and standards. There
is related work going on outside OASIS, and I would point to UN/CEFACT TBG19
eGov for example, its eArchiving project. I
would do plenty of research to dig out the work in other SDO's before launching
forth with a separate initiative. I have this feeling there already is an
OASIS group in a related area (albeit with a US focus) but cannot recall its
name without more time to research. And I think the EU already has
project in this area? I always favour adding to existing work than further
complicating the standards world even more than it already I by starting
something new, because it just ends up confusing folks and causes more harmonisation
and interop work down the line. Cheers Colin From: Paul Spencer
[mailto:paul.spencer@boynings.co.uk] My own view is that the e-gov section should be interested in
this. If there is suitable work going on outside OASIS, we should be monitoring
and probably contributing to it. If not, then I think there should be an OASIS
TC. It is not a specific interest of mine, but it is a big issue for any
Government. Regards Paul Spencer From: Enric Staromiejski Torregrosa
[mailto:enricstaromiejski@gmail.com] We just have started the analysis of a new
(huge) government records managenemt system (for a European Regional
Government). Althought many and heterogenous standards and best practices have
been identified about critical parts of records management (Business and
Functional Requirements, Process and Information Models) we also discovered
areas for modelling that have not been covered at all or at least not in a
methodological/harmonized way. We found that records management is
mentioned in the OASIS e-Government TC home page (Records Management - Proposal
paper submitted to TC) but we have not been able to find any development or
work on this within OASIS in general nor within the e-Government TC. Questions: 1) Are you aware of any progress on this
matter inside OASIS? 2) Would you agree that Records Mamangament
should/could become an own TC Committee? Thanks. CAUTION: This email message and any attachments contain information that may be confidential and may be LEGALLY PRIVILEGED.
