Subject: AW: [egov-ms] Groups - eGov Work Plan 2008-9 (eGMSWorkPlan2008-9.doc) uploaded
Colin, PKI & digital signatures will have a role in STORK (as eID-approaches
in some of the participating states rely on it), but the main focus is on IDM
and eID, not necessarily PKI-based and meant in a broad sense – may be
government issued ID cards (e.g. Belgian eID card), private sector-borne tokens
used as eID in eGovernment (e.g. Austrian bank cards), but also non-PKI approaches
(down to username/passwords at portals). It is also not just technical – legal and operational
issues will have a role. Technically, SAML likely will have a role (again as some
solutions in participating states rely on it), but no decision shave been made
yet. Regards, Herbert Von:
Colin.Wallis@ssc.govt.nz [mailto:Colin.Wallis@ssc.govt.nz] Thanks Herbert I was aware of STORK but had, in my own mind least, separated it
from the (SAML focused) Common eID specs because I thought STORK was in
effect a test of PKI/digital signatures across member states (very useful
though that is for some states and the way you guys deal to the
business/trust issues will be valuable everywhere). I may have a completely uninformed perception of STORK so please
set me right if I am off the mark. Cheers Colin From: Herbert
Leitold [mailto:Herbert.Leitold@a-sit.at] Colin, As you mentioned Common eID specs: Last month an European
Large Scale Pilot “STORK” has been launched ( http://www.eid-stork.eu/ ). In this 3 year experience
13 EU Member States plus Island will test interoperability of their eID /
Identity management. This shall also result in Common Specifications (first
versions by 2009) that will be implemented and tested in several cross-border
applications. Given that 14 States are involved this might have some impact
– at least in the EU. Regards, Herbert Herbert Leitold E-Government Innovation Center EGIZ Inffeldgasse 16a, A-8010 Graz, Austria Tel.: +43 (316) 873-5521 Fax.: +43 (316) 873-105521 Herbert.Leitold@egiz.gv.at EGIZ is an initiative of the Federal Chancellery Austria and the

Colin.Wallis@ssc.govt.nz [mailto:Colin.Wallis@ssc.govt.nz] Paul Thanks for thinking of us downunder! (Useful links too John, thanks! I cant seem to get any
response from John Seimen on the Common Specs for eID interoperability so if
you have any influence there I'd most appreciate it) I'm not directly involved with the NZ e-GIF these days although the
group of Authentication standards I work on are e-GIF standards. It has been ticking along but the challenges remain of
keeping it updated and relevant, developing a registry/repository of any local
profiling of schema fragments, namespaces etc, and governance. As far as Australia is concerned see here: http://www.finance.gov.au/agimo/index.html They have a e-gov link. Also look at www.govdex.gov.au The Australian States are worth a look
too - Victoria, Queensland etc. Cheers Colin PS: I leave for Europe on Friday: next week in Stockholm for the
Liberty Alliance, but I do have some time on Friday 11th July in the afternoon
in/around London if you wnated to catch up? Global roaming mobile is +64 27

Borras [mailto:johnaborras@yahoo.co.uk] Paul In answer to your question I can give you the UK situation
but you know that already. However what may be of more importance is what
the EU's CAMMS project comes up with. Have a look at the project details
at http://ec.europa.eu/idabc/en/document/7407 .
This may change some current practices so one to watch for the future. You might also watch for the publication of the draft
of the EU's EIF v2 next week on the IDABC site. That may
impact/change some current eGIFs Regards M. +44 (0)7976 157745 ----- Original Message ---- Not happy with your email address? |
