Subject: RE: [egov] OASIS e-GOV TC MEETING 12 MARCH; Proposed discussion item;April 1 SecurE-Biz Summit

Diane, John,

I will be attending to present the status of the OASIS sponsored SecurE-Biz
Summit and how the e-Gov TC chairs can contribute. With over 600 expected
sr. IT leaders attending, we have a great opportunity to advance our common
objectives. The current program is now posted at www.SecurE-Biz.net.
Discounts for OASIS members expire on March 15th.

Here are some of the topics that we can discuss;

1) Capturing e-Gov requirements via Component-based Architectures.
FEAPMO.gov has proposed a number of architecture templates that will be
presented by members of the Industry Advisory Council SIGs.

2) Use this opportunity to conduct outreach and collaboration with other
industry groups with common interests. Key representatives will be attending
from; WS-I, IAC Web Services SIG, ICH, OMG, Federal CIO Council, Council for
Excellence in Govt and ANSI. All these organizations have a stake in the
future of e-Gov. There is a two hour break for lunch each day if you would
like to have a series of presentations.

3) Conduct survey on emerging e-Gov requirements to identify gaps. With
many of the top IT leaders attending, we have a great opportunity to capture
valuable information on our proposed direction, requirements, and
priorities.

4) Join the annual SecurE-Biz Leadership Awards. This is collaborative
effort between OMB, Federal CIO Leadership, Council for Excellence in Govt.,
Gartner and the IAC Enterprise Architecture SIG. OASIS e-Gov TC chairs would
be able to nominate both government and industry thought leaders who have
helped advance open systems and enterprise architectures as a means of
developing secure e-Govt solutions while delivering service to the citizen.

Thanks for the opportunity to discuss. Do you need security information for
the meeting?

john

Hi! everyone... looking forward to meeting with you once again ..

As John noted below i have reserved meeting space for the committee meetings
at the Department of Justice in Washington DC...however, please note the
change in building address... on March 12th at 9am - 12pm i have reserved a
large conference room at 601 D Street NW Suite 1600 Washington, DC. For
the subcommittee meetings in the afternoon i have reserved smaller
conference rooms in a neighboring building.

in order to facilitate entry into the meeting space on March 12th it would
be helpful to have an attendee list prior to March 12th. so please, please
let me or John or the list know if you will be "physically" attending the
meeting. I know that many of you will likely be dialing in....

meanwhile i will be sending out detailed location directions and phone
dial-in information so please keep reading your eGov mail... see you
soon! diane

Dear All

As I have received no objections to holding the TC meeting, I can confirm
we will go ahead with the meeting in Washington DC.

The location is as below, with the TC meeting starting at 9.00 am Eastern
Time and finishing about 12.00, and then SC meetings during the afternoon.
I'll leave the chairs of the SCs to provide details of their meetings. I
realise that some of you will want to attend more than one SC meeting, so
perhaps we can co-ordinate that on the day.

Diane Lewis will provide us with teleconference details in due course for
those that cannot attend in person.

The Agenda for the TC meeting is as follows:

1. Introductions and roll-call
2. Minutes of last meeting
3. Actions arising
4. Review of SC Charters
        - Services SC
        - ebXML and Web Services SC
        - Best Practice SC
5. Establish New SCs
        - Liaison SC
        - Language SC
        - Others?
6. Publicity
        - SecurE-Biz conference
        - Other opportunities?
7. New OASIS KAVI system
8. AOB
9. Dates/Locations of future meetings

If anybody wants to add anything to this agenda will they let me know in
next few days please.

Look forward to seeing, or hearing from, most of you in Washington.

Regards,
John

Dear All

We have set the date of the next TC meeting as 12 March in Washington DC.
Thanks to Diane we have meeting rooms available to us at the
Department of Justice, 950 Pennsylvania Ave, NW Washington, DC.
Teleconference facilities will be provided. The provisional agenda for
the day is to hold a full TC meeting from 9.00 - 12.00 and then meetings
of the sub-committees in the afternoon.

Having said that I want to canvass your opinions about holding the meeting
given the uncertainty in the Middle East.
- If a war with Iraq has started by the 12 March then I would suggest that
we cancel the face-to-face meeting. I for one would not be comfortable
with travelling in those circumstances. Views?
- If the war hasn't started then would you still be willing to travel?
There's a great deal of uncertainty around and here in London we have
Heathrow airport surrounded by troops and police because of terrorists'
threats. So even today travelling is a bit daunting. Views?

I'd like to make a decision on this by the end of next week if possible as
we need to make bookings for planes and hotels if we are going ahead with
the meeting. So if you can let me have your views in the next few days
that would be appreciated please.

I don't want this current situation to stop our work and if we don't hold
the face-to-face meeting then it might be worth trying a teleconference,
although with the numbers involved that could be difficult to manage.
Again suggestions on this would be appreciated please.

Regards,
John
