David
I did mean 28th but hadn't appreciated it was the day after Thanksgiving.
Suggest we make it Wed 26th then as I can't make 25th. Is that likely
to
cause any problems your side?

TC : FUTURES
John,
November 28 is a Friday, the day after Thanksgiving in the states (and
many
here also take that day off to extend the holiday). Perhaps you
meant
November 25 (Tuesday)? This would be a better date for most U.S.
members.
Thanks
David

TC Working Arrangements
We will be issuing the minutes of last week's TC meeting and workshops
shortly, but in the meantime the main TC discussion was around the future
of our sub-committees and was there a better way of working. We
agreed to
the following course of actions and I just want to be sure everyone is
comfortable with this new approach.
1. We will suspend the current sub-committee arrangements for
the time
being.
2. We will operate on a project basis, ie identifying particular
topics,
appointing a project leader and allowing TC members to work on those topics
of interest. The topics should be well-defined and generally things
that
can be completed in a relatively short space of time. We do not want
projects that have open briefs and run on for months.
3. TC members are invited to put forward topics for prioritisation
and
scheduling. In addition to the topics identified in the workshops
suggestions made at the TC meeting were Naming and Design Rules for XML,
and Patterns and Reference Models. The prioritisation and scheduling
will
be undertaken at each TC meeting.
4. We will review the situation progressively to see whether
sub-committees have a role to play.
If anyone has alternative views on this approach then please let me have
them by close next Tuesday, 11th November.
Dates of future TC meetings
In an attempt of keeping the momentum going from last week's sessions,
I
propose holding monthly TC meetings from now on. These do not necessarily
have to be lengthy meetings but let's keep in touch and review progress
on
a more regular basis. With that in mind the dates for the next few
meetings are as follows, so please note your diaries:
Tuesday 28 November - teleconference meeting between 15.00
- 17.00 GMT (
10.00 - 12.00 EST)
Tuesday 6 January - teleconference meeting between 15.00 - 16.00
GMT (
10.00 - 11.00 EST)
Monday 26th and/or Tuesday 27th January - video conference
and
teleconference meeting, details to be confirmed
I'm exploring dates of events for the rest of the year to see where we
might hold F2F meetings. If anybody has any suggestions please let
me
know.
Regards,
John
