Subject: Re: [egov] OASIS e-GOV TC : WORKFLOW STANDARD
John,
Couple of quick responses.
In the RTF doc you mention a UK Gov study on
workflow - did I miss
this - is there a URL?
Second - is it really feasible to have a single
WorkFlow standard?
My sense is that there is some redundancy and
overlap - but there
are also workflow standards that make sense to
their community
of interest. And then we get into flavours of
modelling methods too.
I feel that the best we can do here is point out
available main
workflow technologies and the domains and purpose
for which
they are focused - and successful use cases where
they have
worked.
I believe if we do that we will give people enough
of a roadmap
without ourselves having to formally declare
winners!
Also - in that same spirit of PC Magazine Editors
choices -
by identifier the core criteria and functionality
sets that
make for successfull workflow methods - we can help
direct the overall space without having to
micromanage
the standards themselves...?!?
Can we re-cast the 'Approach' document along
these
lines and the deliverable / tasks within it
accordingly?
Assuming of course that everyone is agrees with
the
direction.
Thanks, DW.
