Title: Re: [egov] RE: Question about e-Gov. TC's Standardization
Rex,

I think the best immediate approach is to express your concern to (perhaps) Jamie Clark. I share your concern.

Thanks, John, Colin, and Mr. Kim,

I am also interested in this since I try to coordinate issues between this TC and the WSRP TC, which also keeps me up to date, as much as possible, with the other Web Services TCs and outside efforts, all of which would benefit from a QoS Standard.

I am also growing concerned about the eGov TC during this hiatus as we wait for someone to step up to the task of leading this effort--an effort that is quite important, IMO, but which I believe should only be led by someone in a government position at a minimum, and in an IT leadership position for the optimum.

Should we schedule a meeting, if we can, just to address this?

Ciao,
Rex

Dear Colin Wallis,

Thanks for your interest in our model.

Our Web Services Quality Model deals with what is Web Services Quality(Definition) and how to measure it(Measurement), i.e. Web Services QoS.

With the widespred proliferation of Web Services, Web Services QoS becomes an important factor.
However, there has not been a concrete standard defining web services quality and guidling how to measure the quality, as we know.
Many other standards on Web Services such as the interoperability standard from WS-I or Web Services Distributed Management standard from OASIS are components( or criteria) consisting of Web Services Quality Model.

For examples, how much the web service is secure is a one factor to judging the level of Web Services Quality.

Actually, our model has been developed in a Korean version. Now, we are  translating it into English.

If you are interested in our model, we will submit it as soon as possible.

Thanks.

Best Regards,
Eunju Kim

Thanks John, and thank you Mr Kim.

It sounds very interesting. I think we will need to see the standard before we can give a view. The reason is that there are many Web Services related standards emerging from OASIS, and from http://www.ws-i.org/ and several other bodies.

We would need to understand where your standard overlaps and differs from these others.

It sounds like it is a standard way to implement a web service process - more like a convention.

Thank you.

Dear Eunju Kim

I am no longer the chair of the e-Government TC and therefore am not in a position to deal with your request.  However I am forwarding your email to members of the TC and perhaps one of them will be able to help.

John

Subject: Question about e-Gov. TC's Standardization Process

Dear John Borras,

Hello.
My name is Eunju Kim and I am working for National Computerization Agency(NCA) in Korea.

Actually, the main business domain of NCA is planning and managing the e-Government project for Korean Government.
Recently, Web Services is adopted as a standard for system integration for our e-Government project.
To support the adoptoin, we have developed Standard for Web Services Quality Model.
As you know, the quality of Web Services is very important issue when we consider the adoption of Web Services into e-Government.
Our model de

We'd like to submit the developed output to the e-Government TC in OASIS.
But, We are wonder if e-Government TC is interested in the enacting standard and the Web Services Quality Model.

I am looking forward to your reply.
Thanks.
