Title: Nomination for Co-Chair for the EKMI TC

I would like to nominate Dr. Hans van Tilburg as a Co-Chair for the EKMI TC.  I have included information on Han's experience in this area and would like to note that he is playing a prominent role in Visa's ongoing key management projects (both symmetric and asymmetric keys).

Dr. Hans van Tilburg works for the Visa International's Global IT Security in the areas of information security, key management, security assessment, business control and policy development, and cryptography. He helps to define and implement secure and sound business controls, policies and standards to protect data and business systems.

Hans has been active in the global security sector for over 20 years. He has strong technical security and business knowledge and expertise. Before joining Visa International, Hans van Tilburg was a Director of Security Technology at InfoGard Laboratories (USA), a Senior Security Policy Advisor for the Dutch Ministry of Telecommunications (Netherlands), and a Senior Researcher at KPN Research (Netherlands).

Proficient in review and formulation of organizational security, risk management, incidence response strategy, security plans, policies and procedures.

Knowledge of regulatory requirements, standards, and guidelines. Competent in managing projects and working under time constraints. Fluent in English and Dutch as demonstrated by strong written and verbal communication skills at all organizational levels and with stakeholders.

Experienced in encryption technology, key management systems, access control systems, security protocols, architectural review, security assessments, risk management, security product selection, and auditing. Working knowledge of IT environments, PKI, Firewalls, IDS, VPN, programming languages, and operating systems including MS Windows and UNIX-like systems.
