Subject: RE: [election-services] NIST Workshop on UOCAVA Remote Voting Systems
I agree that John’s work on risks is a good
basis. As is David’s own work on architectures, which should address the risks John
identified (and possibly others as well). I had to look it up, so for the
benefit of others, UOCAVA is the Uniformed
and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act.

[mailto:johnaborras@yahoo.co.uk] David Don’t NIST have a mailing list for this type of thing. Why
do we have to come across it by chance? Certainly we should submit a paper and I think Appendix B in our
Spec doc, particularly the table at B2, is a very good basis. This
risk analysis of remote/internet voting prepared by John Ross many moons ago
covers the subject very well. Might be worth getting him to review and
update it if necessary. Do you want to have a go at producing a skeleton which he and
the rest of us can review? Will you be able to attend the workshop on 5 Aug on our behalf
or do we need to line up a substitute? John From: David RR Webber (XML)
[mailto:david@drrw.info] John, just found this by happenstance. Believe we could coordinate on a potential OASIS response here. We have until the 16th July if we choose that option. Could we see who may be interested on working on this? Thanks, DW ---------------------------------------------------------------------
