Subject: RE: [emergency-adopt-outreach] FW: FCC's Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau Launches new web page: Broadband and Public Safety and Homeland Security
Bill, Thank you for keeping the OASIS Emergency community aware of
these developments within FCC. Is there a designated person with the FCC Public Safety &
Homeland Security Bureau (PSHSB) that we could arrange to speak with? On
behalf of the OASIS EMA Outreach effort, this appears to be an emerging
activity within FCC that we want to keep them informed of the OASIS EDXL efforts,
especially our planned interoperability demos and deployments that involve
public safety and first responder community, as well as local EAS broadcasters. Also, the recent news from the DHS Office of Emergency Communications
to establish an Emergency Communications Committee, did not appear to indicate
that there was strong participation from those persons who have been involved
in development and adoption of the EDXL standards. The current
participants in this ECC with EDXL knowledge appeared to be from DNDO, not from
S&T OIC or FEMA IPAWS. Is there any outreach we could have with the
DHS OEC? Please advise how this OASIS O&E sub-committee can continue
our outreach and education to these emerging groups who appear to be also
focusing on emergency data exchange. Best regards, Patrick Gannon President & COO Warning Systems, Inc. +1 256 880 8702 x104 (office) +1 256 468 4055 (mobile) From: Kalin, William <CTR>

[mailto:Deandrea.Wilson@fcc.gov] Today, the FCC's
Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau launched a new web page: Broadband
and Public Safety and Homeland Security to better ensure that the public
safety community, the general public, government agencies and communications
providers have access to the latest news and information on the FCC's efforts
to implement the National Broadband Plan for public safety. The
implementation of the plan will include initiatives to bring interoperable
communications to America's first responders through the creation of a
nationwide wireless broadband network and new cyber security reporting and
monitoring programs; as well as Next Generation 9-1-1 services; emergency
alerts and warnings through a variety of outlets (including via television and
radio broadcasts (Emergency Alert System), wireless hand-held devices, such as
cell phones and the Internet) and much more. The web page includes
access to the latest press releases, public notices, field hearings, and
presentations. We encourage you to visit these pages for updates and
background information to assist with your coverage of the National Broadband
Plan and its impact on public safety across America. To access these
pages, please visit: http://www.fcc.gov/pshs/broadband.html
