Subject: Re: [emergency-adopt] Emergency Management Magazine to Carry OASISEmergency InterOp Article - Special Advertising Opportunity
Hi Patrick, You mentioned the event in San Francisco, April 29, 2010 and I have looked it up on the Emergency Management Magazine site: http://www.emergencymgmt.com/events/2010-SanFrancisco-EM-Summit.html#registration I went ahead and registered. Since it appears to be free and focused on govt EM and vendors selling into that market, I cited my own involvement as a Consultant. If I were to speak I would think that it would be necessary for us to come to agreement Monday for the C&D SC to recommend it and to get approval from the EMA TC, and the EI MS for a specific message. Of course, we would first need to be certain that this group would welcome another speaker. The fact that I am the principal author of the All Hazards Alerts and Warnings (AHAW) Capability Pattern in NCOIC and that I work with the Golden Gate Safety Network (GGSN) and Carnegie Mellon University Silicon Valley Disaster Management Initiative (CMUSV-DMI), both of which signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the California Emergency Management Agency (CalEMA) as well as working with OASIS makes a good case for having me give a brief introduction to the EDXL Family. With two weeks till the event, there is just enough time for me to put together a presentation to fit their schedule. With only three speakers listed and an agenda that runs from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm, it seems there is time available, though they may have other speakers not listed. It would be a good venue for a first run-through of a standard EDXL slide set. When you speak to them, you should point out that they have an error in the short description of the event: The All-Hazards, All-Stakeholders Summit will address the natural and man-made hazards facing the _/*Seattle*/_ area — fires, floods and terror events — and address best practices in preparing for and mitigating these crises. _/*Seattle*/_ should be San Francisco.
