The Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) is promoted by the International
Telecommunication Union (ITU), the World Meteorological Organization
(WMO), and others as the foundation standard for public alerting in
societies worldwide. CAP is an OASIS standard adopted as ITU-T
Recommendation X.1303.
Another in the series of CAP Implementation Workshops will be held
at the WMO in Geneva, 23-24 April 2013. Also, on the day following
the Workshop, 25 April, WMO is offering "CAP Jump Start" training
in the same venue, open to anyone interested.
The CAP Workshops (see links below) help CAP implementors to share
insights and harmonize their implementations. This is important now
that so many different sources worldwide issue CAP alert messages.
It has been suggested that the 2013 CAP Implementation Workshop
focus on how to expand adoption of CAP, especially through training
and outreach efforts.
I hope you will not only participate in this 2013 Workshop, but you
will consider proposing a presentation. Please let me know if you
are willing to present what you have learned in implementing CAP or
your major implementation challenges, and what you propose as your
presentation topic.
This is a technical workshop conducted in English; interpretation
will not be provided. Everyone participates solely as an expert and
all participants cover their own travel expenses. (Geneva hotels are
