Subject: RE: [emergency-cap] Some questions to add to tomorrow's agenda
There are ways to fill in a series of cells, but adding a row will almost always require additional action to “regenerate and re-fill” the series. Is the ID intended to be the identifier for the concept (i.e., the code value) or is it for sorting/ordering purposes. If a code value, this illustrates a
basic problem with sequential identifiers: the sequence will “break” as soon as a new concept is added. Current concept management practice is to generate non-semantic code – codes with no internal meaning or structure – to preclude anyone from assuming what
the code value implies. I’ll be on tomorrow’s call so we can discuss further. Also, I froze the top column of the spreadsheet. Allows you to see the column headers when scrolling down the table.

Hi Everyone, I started adding terms to the google docs spreadsheet Jake set up for us, and I have come up with some questions I'd like to add to the agenda for tomorrow's regularly scheduled meeting. Do we want to include SAME and Canadian event codes in this version? (I added columns for this but didn't add so many items that it will be onerous to delete the columns, nor will it require other changes.) Is there a way to auto-increment the id column in a way that allows us to insert new rows when adding a new item that belongs with a group already added? (I ran into this several times and at the least it
would be more efficient to hold of on setting the ids until after the first version is complete or much more complete than it is now.) Can the auto-increment also apply to renumbering the items when deletions are necessary for duplicate entires? I'm sure we'll come up with more questions.
