Subject: Re: Possible Open Repository idea for Emergency?

All,

I added the CAP SC mailing list to these addresses to let them know that we will be hearing from Chet at our EM TC meeting tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Just in case some of the CAP folks want to hear about the GitHub Open Repositories as an option for the Event Terms List, which will almost certainly come up in our CAP SC meeting this Friday.

Cheers,
Rex

All,

I'll add my note of support for spinning up an Open Repository if that could make sense to the community.  There are no fees for non-OASIS members, so it can be a good point of attraction

We have about 25 of these repositories already, more or less active:

Chet can provide the live meeting overview for the TC, and that will be a great start

Elysa: I also have an overdue action item to speak with you about possible new technical work relating to CAP "security", but I've not yet done my homework to understand what the current situation is in CAP deployments.  Viz., whether there might be interest in developing additional technology to ensure that emergency notifications (subscriptions, messages) don't get hacked at any point...  More soon on that, I hope

Hi Chet,

Thank you!  We also had a successful first EVERY EDXL workshop on the day following.  Unfortunately I’ve been delinquent in getting our report out.

We decided to open an OASIS discussion list to obtain input from the broader international community.  The resulting work could be a candidate for an open source vocabulary work product.

We have an EMTC meeting tomorrow 12-1EDT.  Perhaps you would want to join to tell members how that works?  If not, Rex and I can talk with you directly.  He is copied here.

Thanks,

Elysa

Hi Elysa,

I just skimmed over the report on the 2017 CAP Implementation workshop and the range of presentations and applications is amazing.

I saw the mentions about an international CAP “Event” Term List and how you "spoke to the

challenges in developing and maintaining such a list without input from the broader CAP

community."

Might that be a use for an Open Repository? If the global CAP community had access to an open source vocabulary work product, it could be a way to create that event term list as a living entity.

If you think that has potential, we're happy to talk further about it.

Congrats on a great event!
