Subject: Important Concepts and Developments in Today's Meeting

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to mention that we surfaced an important deliverable that
coincides with, and may be combined with the work on EDXL-DE that
will support both the Adoption and RIM Subcommittees.

That concept is the agreed (as in official) domain content models
that Carl noted. Carl was responding to Dave's question about how OGC
handles message info pertaining to data that may be associated with a
message transmission for correctly interpreting factors
(termnologies) that may be different depending on from whom the
message is received and to whom it is intended (with particular
emphasis on the pub-sub context). Carl noted that some communities,
e.g. USGS, and European Emergency Management have accepted/approved
Content Models represented by correct metadata as a means to ensure
semantic interoperability. Carl also mentioned some specific places
where such information could be found.

Rex suggested that what would be helpful would be a web location (URL
for a single registry website) where references-links to such Content
Models could be maintained so that people and applications could
find, navigate to and obtain, these models so that the models could
be accurately cited and used in pub-sub and for other EDXL-DE related
routing purposes.

An unaligned, non-governmental body, such as OASIS would be a good
place to put together such a registry, and the requirements for and
specification of such a registry is a candidate work product Or
deliverable for this SC, especially as an adjunct to the work on
explaining EDXL-DE 1.0 in a cookbook or implementation guide, as well
as gathering requirements for EDXL-DE 1.1.

Dave also noted that the larger behind-the-scenes picture seems to
indicate that there may be more support for supporting the
development of an EDXL-Asset Tracking specification.

Cheers,
Rex
