 -- Jeff Waters

The document named DRAFT-08-16-11-Minutes-IF-Subcommittee.doc
(DRAFT-08-16-11-Minutes-IF-Subcommittee.doc) has been submitted by Jeff
Waters to the EM Infrastructure Framework SC document repository.

Document Description:
At the August 16th, 2011 meeting of the Infrastructure Framework
subcommittee, the members discussed the following topics:

1. TOPIC: Can we develop a paragraph that summarizes the new DE 2.0 for use
in a poster? (Answer: Yes, the following paragraph is recommended:
The Distribution Element 2.0 (DE 2.0) specification describes a standard
message distribution format for data sharing among emergency information
systems. The DE 2.0 serves two important purposes: (1) The DE 2.0 allows an
organization to wrap separate but related pieces of emergency information,
including any of the EDXL message types, into a single "package"
for easier and more useful distribution; (2) The DE 2.0 allows an
organization to "address" the package to organizations or
individuals with specified roles, located in specified locations or those
interested in specified keywords. This new version of the DE expands the
ability to use local community-defined terms, uses a profile of the
Geography Markup Language (GML), follows best practices for naming
conventions, provides the capability to link content objects, and is
reorganized for increased flexibility and reuse of common types. The DE 2.0
packages and addresses emergency information for effective distribution
with improved standardization and customization for user needs. )

2. TOPIC: Can we put all of the common component schemas in one place?
(Answer: Yes, for each candidate committee specification, the schemas will
be in a folder with the draft specification combined into a zip file and
the zip will be put in the RIM Candidate folder. Eventually, when the EM
committee approves and OASIS staff processes, the zip files will appear in
the formal OASIS repository.)

3. TOPIC: Is it useful to have a Quick Reference to our DE 2.0 and does the
current CheatSheet satisfy that need? (Answer: Yes, it would be useful to
have quick references and the current CheatSheet should be renamed to a
QuickReference and be a first draft for this purpose. See
