Subject: RE: [emergency-msg] Re: Issues with geo-oasis and CIQ3.0

FYI: There will be a special preconference symposium held at Balisage: The Markup Conference in Montreal this August on versioning http://www.balisage.net/Versioning/index.html

Gary -

Thanks for taking the time to do this detailed testing.  I will take a look next week. Namespaces and xml schemas - the OGC members spent a three hour session in mid-December at one of our face to face meetings trying to resolve a number of issues related to xml schema and OGC standards. Part of the problem from what I understand is the W3C has not adequately defined best practice for such requirements as versioning. Sigh.

Carl

Subject: Issues with geo-oasis and CIQ3.0

The gml-oasis.xsd file used in the mid-summer version Of HAVE overloads the http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink name space with it own xlinks.xsd file.  Xlinks.xsd imports xlink.xsd but reuses the xlink namespace.  This works until… CIQ also uses the  http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink namespace but uses different schema (xlink-2003-12-31.xsd) for that name space.  I tried changing the GML import to the new file name but there is enough difference that it did not work.

Suggestions anyone.

One possibility to to replace where-type with the CIQ geo-rss equivalent and dump the gml-oasis piece completely. (Ouch)

Carl, Can you help?
