I'm agreeable with this up to the point where I hear that someone is 
pushing to get such an effort underway in some other group. Even 
then, I wouldn't much care as long as they were not reinventing 
things we have already done. My main concern is that the 
medical/healthcare world has a lot of money wrapped up in it and we 
are beginning to see a lot of exploitation already. I think the best 
solution is educating the marketplace that EDXL-RM and EDXL-HAVE and 
EDXL-DE can handle the load.

It's really a question of perception. As long as it looks like 
there's riches to be mined in the healthcare IT domain, the vendors 
will do whatever they think it takes to cash in on it, and the 
history of healthcare IT is already one of a combination of neglect 
leading to exploitation. I just want to nudge it in the direction of 
open standards and make the whole notion of proprietary schemes 
unworkable.
