Subject: Reminder: Meeting Today

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to remind you all that we have a meeting scheduled today.
Although I have not posted an Agenda, I do want to suggest that we
discuss starting work on the intermediate technical level draft of
the principles of EDXL-DE reflected in the requirements that can be
derived from EDXL-DE 1.0. I think we should also include a discussion
of how we will be approaching the upcoming decision about versioning
DE, which is now due for either a 1.1 or 2.0 version.

What I think we need to do is to establish the relationship between
requirements for a given specification, EDXL-DE, in this case, and
the principles we can derive from the mechanisms adopted in the
specification to meet the requirements. For some added background on
the history of the DE, please see the White Paper from David Aylward,
Gary Ham and Tim Grapes which I uploaded to the EM Adoption
Collateral and Documents SC this morning.

While I don't think we need to develop a historical account of the
EDXL family in depth for the RIM, I do think we need to address the
fact that there is a significant history behind the conceptual
structure of some of our mechanisms such as the
ValueListURN-Value/Keyword combination.

I also think that , in addition to the technical illustrations and
diagrams we will use, we should also use some less IT-technical
analogical illustrations to make clear the relationships amongs
ReferenceModels, Reference Architectures, Solution Architectures and
platform/OS-specific choices.

Cheers,
Rex
