Subject: RE: [emergency] Earthquake Report (A.3) Example: Questions -- typo, etc.
On further research, it appears that Ml in the example in A.3 is an accepted abbreviation for magnitude measured on the Richter scale. A variety of measures for Earthquake magnitude exist. The various scales are explained at: http://wcatwc.gov/magnitude.htm . The USGS data doesn't include the "Ml" since it appears to be assumed that this is the default. bob wyman
