Well, come on, some of us implemented CAP to SMS translators over a year ago. As for 'Universal Messaging' on GSM -- the only candidate would be SMS. Which doesn't automatically open across all SMS phones. Flash SMS does, but it is not universally supported, neither by cell cos or end user phones. This is due to the fact that when you sign up you may opt not to purchase an SMS plan -- in that case you are only billed if you physically open the message on your phone, thus defeating the purpose.
