Subject: RE: Minutes of the June 7 2005 GIS SC Teleconference
In attendance: Carl Reed, Michelle Raymond, Tom Merkle, Art Botterell, Gary
Ham, Rex Brooks, Adam Hocek, Dave Ellis, Kon Wilms
Note: A Quorum was present
We had a wide ranging discussion WRT EDXL, distribution element, and
TargetID. We discussed use cases as a mechanism to provide a foundation and
context for domain use of EDXL/distribution elements.
. There is agreement that use cases will be very useful and are required.
This is because the uses and environments of use for EDXL are incredibly
diverse.
. Agreement that an overarching (executive summary) for EDXL is needed. Rex
pointed out that Michael Daconta's work is an excellent place to start.
. This led to conversation about next week's Data Reference Model
Public Forum and a variety of presentations and discussions at that meeting that
have relevance to the ongoing EDXL work, such as the relationship between EDXL,
FEA, and network centric architectures.
. This led to agreement that EDXL needs to work in network architectures,
server centric architectures, combinations of both.
. There was also discussion about the use of RDF and the importance of
using RDF to better express rules. Agreement that this is important.
. Action: Carl to provide information on Open Source Geospatial 2005
conference (done).
. Action: Michelle to provide some use cases when appropriate.
. Action: Others to keep an eye out for and provide use cases.
Respectfully submitted
