Subject: RE: [emergency] RE: GIS SC Conference call
Actually, Thursday mornings are problematic for me, since I have two WSRP meetiings/mo, with a third likely to be added in March. I could do 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.Pacific Time or after 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Pacific Time. I actually need to stay up with GIS if I possibly can, and I believe we are approaching a time when we will need to get very specific about recommendations so building a consensus is necessary. When I say very specific, I am thinking that we may need to actually build one of the managed lists we speak about in EDXL_DE, perhaps with specific conversion mapping of Coordinate Reference Systems and Semantic tools for data models, perhaps thesauri or mapping across existing vocabularies and symbologies. I don't think we can rely on industry associations or government agencies to do more than select a given system here and there, leaving us with more of the hit or miss situations we see now.
