Subject: Re: [emergency] IF-SC and EM-TC Calls today

Sorry I was not around for the sub-committee reports - had another
conference call :-(
Anyway, we did have a GIS SC teleconference last Tuesday.
We agreed that:
1. ISO Date Time (8601) meets all requirements for expressing Date and
Time in OASIS EM TC standards. A really good reference for 8601 can be found at
http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~mgk25/iso-time.html .
Also, there is no reason that the TC cannot define a restricted subset, also
known as a profile, of 8601 for use in EDXL, CAP, HAVE, etc.
2. That the document "Best Practices: A GML Profile for use in OASIS EM
Standards - EDXL-RM, EDXL-DE, HAVE, and CAP is mature enough for broader EM TC
discussion and deliberation. I will be posting a slightly updated version to be
a bit more in sync with existing element names (tags) in CAP and
EDXL.
Regards
Carl
