Subject: Fwd: [dm-open-sig] CAP AUTHORING TOOL

I know many of you are already on the DMSIG list and I'm sorry to be
cluttering your input baskets. However, I must pass along this from
Bob Kelly. Josh - sounds like something for the Adoption SC As a
minimum, we should express our interest in his work and evaluate it
for inclusion in our cookbook. Elysa

>This is Bob Kelly from Monmouth University. I am penning this note as it
>relates to the brief conversation on this past DM OPEN SIG conference
>call related to CAP authoring tools. In our work last year under
>contract to ECBC we had occasion to develop a CAP authoring tool. We
>used this tool to create hundreds of CAP messages as part of a project
>that used CAP as the messaging mechanism internal to a prototype of an
>emergency management application called DECIDE (Dynamically Enhanced
>Command Information Delivery).
>
>The tool has a nice GUI and allows creation, storage, retrieval, and
>editing of CAP Messages. The GUI displays the CAP message as it is
>created and provides an easy to use interface for information content.
>
>We wanted to offer this tool to the community for its use and this note
>is intended to gauge interest. We have not done a study to determine
>what CAP authoring tools are out there, so there may or may not be a
>demand.
>
>Since this was developed under a federal contract it would be available
>gratis but would require sponsor permission.
>
>The University is not an institution to support a software tool, so if
>there is interest something would need to be worked out, probably in an
>open source context.
>
>For now though I would like to assess interest by your response.
>
>Please contact me at rkelly@monmouth.edu if interested. I do have a
>brochure that I could forward that adds a little more detail and depicts
>the GUI.
