For those that do not know what WPS is, that is the OGC Web Processing 
Service interface standard. http://www.opengeospatial.org/standards/wps , 
Very widely implemented in applications that have geospatial workflows.

Also, DEWS is an excellent example of the use of international standards in 
an operational system
