Eliot asked about the Canadian event list.  Jacob explained that the eventCode values were the key part of the list and that recommended event values were also provided but modification for regional differences or unique circumstances was allowed.  Eliot asked about the 50 character limit and Jacob explained the need to accommodate different languages.  Jacob, Gary, and Eliot discussed whether there is a requirement for eventCode.  Eliot raised a concern about FIA and parsing the event text value.  Category in CAP and how useful it really is was discussed.  There was a concern about users needing the eventCode more than the Category.  Nuwan raised a concern about eventCode being mandatory and it being an implementation concern.

https://issues.oasis-open.org/browse/EMERGENCY-32 was opened about making eventCode mandatory.
