Subject: Standards Coordinating Council - CALL FOR PARTICIPATION - with attachment

Friends,

As a member of the Standards Coordinating Council (SCC), I am delighted to be able to extend the following Call for Participation for the  SCC Outreach & Communications Working Group (O&C WG).  I think the work of the SCC will be an excellent forum for the work we have done to develop and promote data exchange standards in support of the emergency management mission.

(NOTE: Government organizations may act in an advisory capacity to the WG and may submit an application for consideration.)

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

DUE: August 21, 2015

Standards Coordinating Council

Outreach & Communications Working Group

Dear OASIS Emergency Management Technical Committee (EM-TC) Members,

OASIS is a member of the Standards Coordinating Council (SCC), which is an association of associations that have come together to achieve the common goal of providing overview and guidance to the public and private sectors on information sharing and safeguarding standards.  The SCC was formed by the Program Manager for the Information Sharing Environment (PM-ISE) under the office of the Director of National Intelligence and in accordance with the SCC Charter, as defined by the Information Sharing and Access Interagency Policy Committee (ISA IPC).

The SCC is in the initial stages of creating foundational working groups to support the work of the SCC. As a member of OASIS, you are eligible to apply for participation in the SCC’s working groups.  This is the second of several SCC Working Group calls for participation; the first being the call for the Architecture Working Group. In the future, we will be seeking participants for the Business, Technical, Security, Privacy, and Performance Measurement Working Groups.  More information about the Outreach & Communications Working Group (O&C WG) is in the attached application.

When you volunteer for the O&C WG, your mission will be to help drive the adoption of information sharing through the use of national standards.  The goals of the O&C WG are as follows:

·         Attracting broad stakeholder interest in the program;

·         Increasing community involvement;

·         Managing and facilitating active dialog with stakeholders;

·         Creating consistent and repeatable messaging on SCC strategy;

·         Assuming the primary role in the development, management, and dissemination of communications;

·         Coordinating, planning, and administering SCC-related events and meetings;

·         Organizing and coordinating the delivery of SCC training; and,

·         Gain attention and support for efforts to improve information sharing and safeguarding standards.

Interested in volunteering for the O&C WG to help us drive adoption of information sharing through the use of standards?  If so, then complete the attached form to apply.  Send the form and your resume to martha.hill@ijis.org  by 5:00 pm (ET) on August 21, 2015.
