Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (EMIX-8) 3.1.1 - AC Power

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/EMIX-8?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=19992#action_19992 ]

Edward Cazalet commented on EMIX-8:
------------------------------------

The commenter is correct in that ISO/RTO markets do not distinguish between AC and DC power. A DC transmission line may be embedded in an AC network, but transactions and pricing is typically AC.

However one envision DC power provided locally for use as DC power. If the power was converted from AC power to DC then one would expect the price of the AC power to be higher than the price of the DC source because of conversion losses and amortization of the cost conversion equipment.

And if the source was DC ( such as a PV source) then the AC price would generally be higher than the AC price.

I would seem prudent to provide a distinction between AC and DC power in markets where such distinction is meaningful.
