Subject: Thoughts on Today's working session

Correct version of EMIX (wd08) now is up. I apologies for putting WS-Calednar WD08 up there instead, an artifact of late-night uploading….

We discussed the WS-Calendar changes, how they affects the developing spec, and then waded right into some thorny Jira issues. We documented as we went in Jira—so you can see comments and minutes, there.

Many of the thorny issues are what is EMIX and what is not. As Ed has long argued, full embrace of TEMIX would mean we do not have to solve all of them. For example, a generator that bids three hours of power, put has a 10 minute ramp time could itself purchase the difference on the spot market to support its own bid….

Power quality is another issue. IEEE159 is, of course, not freely available. My *personal* feeling is that this is handled as a Warrant, describing discounts against the Intrinsic bid. But then, we need to get an 1159 data object defined….reference Phil Davis’s note from a month or so ago.

here is pointer to uploaded document on power quality from Phil Davis: http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/download.php/37248/Power%20Quality%20White%20Paper%20from%20Schneider.pdf
Anne Hendry1: This white paper presents power quality characteristics and discusses the use of EN 50160 as the basis of national quality of supply regulations. Should have discussion on this w.r.t. IEEE 1159?  It seems the IEEE 1159 spec is available for purchase, or otherwise to IEEE members/subscribers through http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/xpl/freeabs_all.jsp?arnumber=1263328.  If anyone has a link to a publicly available version please forward.

I urge everyone to wade into Jira, and add comments. Even saying “I’m in Retail, and I don’t care about this” is important useful information when deciding document strategies and TC work-plans.
