Subject: Semantic Alert; Schedules of reserves, Options, and EMIX

An EMIX product Description defines a product whose key characteristics might vary over time.

An EMIX product describes what could be available over time, including ramp times, lead times, etc. This may be one time, or every day at 9:00 or just waiting for a schedule and a request for performance under contract.

An EMIX product is scheduled when the buying party specifies the performance time. (Consistent with existing terminology on scheduling generation and scheduling a DR event).

Reserve is a product for which a promise has been made to be schedulable within a designated response time. If that contracted response time is short, we may call it “spinning reserve”

In essence, Reserve is not an EMIX Product, but an EMIX Option. The buyer has purchased the option to Schedule (demand performance) the product on demand.

OK with that terminology out of the way, it would be useful to include iCalendar semantics inherited through WS-Calendar in describing an [option schedule] in the EMIX Option. A single option might promise to be in reserve on all weekday afternoons in the month of June. This could either be 20-some Options, or it could be a single iCalendar [schedule], communicated as easily as we accept a TC or PAP Meeting for every day of the week, or for every three weeks, for a given period of time.

So:

The world Schedule is already in wide and well-accepted use in Electricity Markets to describe the specific call for performance.

What is the term for the Option Schedule, which describes when this Option is in effect?

There are many use cases, so the problem is worth solving; I have just grabbed the most obvious here.
