While Power is delivered as a commodity, products and product differentiation is common usage. Power is commonly differentiated by time of delivery, by place of delivery,and b generation source. THese are all product differentiators as the term is commonly understood.

Product differentiation can be achieved in many ways. It may be as simple as packaging the goods in a creative way, or as elaborate as incorporating new functional features. Sometimes differentiation does not involve changing the product at all, but creating a new advertising campaign or other sales promotions instead. 

Some have argued that, say, renewables are noting but "a new advertising campaign or other sales promotion" - but even so, they are defintitely products, and are purchased on separate markets, and at different prices than other sources of the same commodity.
