Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (EMIX-490) PAP03 Req #2: apparentgap; suitability across entire smart grid

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/EMIX-490?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=26914#action_26914 ]

Edward Cazalet commented on EMIX-490:
--------------------------------------

information model translations SEP 2.0 may choose to make at the ESI boundary is out of scope for EMIX. The information model of EMIX has the capability to represent a wide range of price communications with some examples presented in the documents. To my knowledge, the Information model of SEP 2.0 has not yet been submitted to EMIX for comparison, but there is no reason to expect that if SEP 2.0 can convey existing actionable tariff prices and demand response prices then EMIX can convey the same information to SEP 2.0 the ESI boundary with translations made by SEP 2.0. EMIX can then convey to the same information to any other interface that may not use SEP 2.0.

WS Calendar does not support randomization of response to price signals on the advice of the WS-Calendar committee (which includes the world's leading experts on these matters) because such communication was judged to be ambiguous. Energy Interop demand response signals are planned to include randomization of response. Please also see my comments on issue 499 where I point out that a tender with a defined price and quantity may sometimes be a better approach than a tender with a price and no defined response and a random start time and duration.

> Requirement Text:
> The price model shall be suitable for use across the entire Smart Grid.
> Apparent Gap:
> Not suitable across entire grid because it doesn't yet map to SEP2.0 which is expected to operate intra-customer premise and at the ESI boundary. Also WS-Calendar doesn't support randomization of behavior relative to price signals.
