Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (EMIX-484) Reserves as Options

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/EMIX-484?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=26937#action_26937 ]

Edward Cazalet commented on EMIX-484:
--------------------------------------

Reserve or ancillary service products as well as many demand response products are recognized by many experts as option products even though the term option is not often used in their implementation. OPENADR has chosen to directly use some of the EMIX information model in its profile in Energy Interop while applying its terminology to allow for transition from OPENADR 1.0 to OPENADR 2.0. The IRC can choose to do the same applying its traditional terminology to these products in an Energy Interop IRC profile while building on the interoperability of EMIX.
The EMIX option model if used in future product implementation across the smart grid can provide more standardization of the optionality in smart grid products.
I recommend that this issue be closed.

> The IRC does not see the benefit of re-phrasing widely understood concepts for reserves. See the CIM and IRC submitted work where reserves are products. The requirements of the varied products and how they are expressed is known to the utility industry, energy markets, Demand Response providers, businesses and residential customers who participate in the markets.
> Enable Emix to address these concerns by adding additional fields to the information exchanges that would meet the needs of the wholesale market.
