Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Issue Comment Edited: (EMIX-500) PAP03 Req#23: needs validation; net-zero-energy buildings

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/EMIX-500?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=26999#action_26999 ]

Toby Considine edited comment on EMIX-500 at 8/24/11 1:54 PM:
--------------------------------------------------------------

Net Zero is defined in many ways, often through regulatory processes. An approach concerned with net energy use would likely map toward fixed prices over the netting period. An approach looking to net out economic exchanges, with a concomitant focus on aligning load shape with economic signals would tend to time-volatile prices. Either can be communicated by EMIX, and which should be is dependent upon local market interests, including local regulated rules.

EMIX makes no statement about the proper regulatory environment; it merely reports on the prices that result from those local regulatory decisions. Similar communications can be used with similar logic in unregulated environments.

NZE is a common term, not defined precisely in EMIX, nor should it be,

> Requirement Text:
> Net-zero-energy buildings require actionable energy prices.
> Validation:
> Net-zero not defined or described either in the requirements or in the specification. The justification for this requirement lacks documentation in the specification.
