Subject: FW: EIS Alliance Use Case Version 2.0 Available for Public Review

The Energy Information Systems Alliance (EIS Alliance) has published a v2.0 of their use cases for sharing energy information inside a microgrid. In the ongoing energy conversations, every home, commercial building, or industrial site is considered a microgrid. Every microgrid is responsible for managing its own energy, i.e., coordinating use, generation, storage, and market operations – a useful conceit even if for now, most such microgrids have only participate in use and market operations. A microgrid is a more intimate environment than  the larger grid, and inside a microgrid, message exchanges can be more frequent and less parsimonious than in the larger grid.

EnergyInterop should be usable within a microgrid as much as within the larger grid. These use cases provide a nice introduction to their requirements, and a way of thinking about energy somewhat different from that of the big suppliers and big supply chains.

We hope the Alliance will contribute their use cases to the TC, but for now, you may wish to read and comment upon their work.
