Subject: Calendars, Schedules, Open Source

One of the key resources for the WS-Calendar team, Mike Douglas, maintains an open source enterprise calendar system, Bedework (http://www.bedework.org/bedework/update.do).  Key services for the next update to WS-Calendar are being tested and developed by synchronizing schedules between BedeWork and an Exchange Server.

Those looking for open source starts to approaching the schedules and searches might look to this project as a potential source for approaches and codes.

Clearly, enterprise schedule updates and real-time energy transactions will take place with different communications. On the other hand, internal databases within the end nodes may have some substantial similarities to  schedule applications. If, for example, the dedicated VEN in the home is also interacting with Mom’s Android, Dad’s Blackberry, and the iPhones of each of the kids, then incorporation of calendar synchronization and comparison features become highly valuable.
