Subject: RE: [humanmarkup-comment] HM.frameworks: social structure: marri age+ introduction

Hi Bala:

With respect to this topic, you may wish to review

"A Decision Support System for Rule Discovery In Social Networks",
www.eas.asu.edu/~gcss/papers/SocialNetworks.pdf

This is a more complicated problem than it first appears and particularly
affects the names which can be applied (therefore, the applicable codelists)

given a particular culture. A simple example is the use in some
Asian cultures of the title "auntie" for women who are not
by marriage or birth related to the user of the title. "Dutch Uncle"
is a term seen in the West. However, the authors of the article
explore this and describe a system for use by anthropologists,
linguists, etc. on a means to map such terms.
