An Italian
linguistic librarian developed an annotation system that this group will find
interesting in regards to the markup that might be required to project knowledge
from one location to another location, in the internet, for example. This
notation has application also to mediating the transfer of knowledge from source
languages to target languages during translation (whether human or machine
mediated).
It is my claim that
AI is paradimatically incapable of addressing the deeper (and often practical
critical) issues in translation. The means and ways that humans behave
when communicating and reflecting have to be semi-formally noted in some type of
open semiotic system.
